Turandot, Welsh National Opera, 2011
"Shafajinskaia's platinum-plated soprano glints with menace, but there's enough in the emotional tank to make one of Turandot's last and the revealing lines, "my glory is over", sound more then a little poignant."
Neil Fisher, "The Times", May 31, 2011.

“Shafajinskaia, who has achieved success as Turandot, Lady Macbeth and Gioconda managed to satisfy the composer’s demands for a large voice capable of reaching high notes and also operating with considerable power in the lower registers. Her voice sounds like a mezzo with a high reach.”
